I lay out pencils, do inks, then colors (digitally in photoshop, or via colored ink, or both). I started using blue pencil because the regular gray is too hard for me to ‘see through’ when I ink. Also, blue pencil should be able to be reduced out when leveling black and white work, so it isn’t necessary to erase!

pennyroyaltoadflax asked: What kind of pens do you use to achieve the variety of lines that you use in every piece? It seems like you use a lot of different ones. Also, is there a cheaper equivalent? What do you think your weaknesses are?

I use a Pentel Pocket Brush and a micron for touch ups. I also use a LOT of whiteout for when I make mistakes! Pentel is pretty much the cheapest refillable brush pen before they start getting terrible. There are finer, more expensive ones but I like Pentel because of its durability. I think my biggest weakness is my sense of perfectionism and tunnel vision. I still have to work on loosening up, and stepping back from a piece once in a while!

Or whatever the heck they’re called. I realize my note count on some of these pieces could probably be improved if more people could like, VIEW the art. I started doing that earlier but then I forgot where I was and I died.

Anyway, head on over to my illustrations page if you want to actually see some of the shit that is posted there now. YAY. The only things that aren’t englargable are things that are actually meant to be viewed small (like the icon and pattern assignments), and old shit.
